The Trojans returned to action Saturday at the Redcoat Invitational hosted by Bob Jones High School, competing for the second time in as many days. With a larger portion of the varsity squad in attendance, the Trojans turned the meet into a statement performance to cap off opening weekend of the 2026 outdoor season.

Hurdles & Distance Dominate
Caiden Sedlacek set the tone early, sweeping both hurdle events in dominant fashion. He claimed victory in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.05 and followed it up with another win in the 300-meter hurdles in 40.03 — a strong early-season double that energized the boys squad.
The distance crew delivered fireworks of their own, led by the Johnson twins. Nehemiah Johnson controlled the 1600 meters from the gun, winning in an impressive 4:19. Not to be outdone, his brother Josiah Johnson captured the 3200 meters in 9:57, giving Hazel Green a clean sweep of the distance titles and putting the Trojans firmly in the team hunt.
Speed & Relays Step Up
In the sprints, Timothy Pruitt paced the short sprinters with a 5th-place finish in the 100 meters and a strong effort in the 200. The relay squads also opened their season with purpose — the 4x800 team battled to a 3rd-place finish, while the 4x100 crossed in 5th, building momentum for the weeks ahead.
Field Events Bring Key Points
The boys jumpers added valuable team points, led by Kwesi Jackson, who placed 4th in the triple jump and 5th in the long jump. Elijah Mike cleared his way to a 4th-place finish in the high jump, continuing the Trojans’ balanced scoring effort across events.
Girls Squad Shows Depth and Growth
On the girls side, Paityn Banks led the hurdlers with a 3rd-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles and 5th in the 300 hurdles. Jessica Harbin powered the sprint squad with a 4th-place finish in the 100 and 5th in the 200, continuing to show consistency on the straightaway.
The distance girls delivered breakthrough performances. Savannah Foreman ran a personal best 5:49 to place 7th in the 1600, building on her strong indoor campaign. She doubled back to place 8th in the 3200. Sakura Hollingsed had one of the biggest improvements of the day, dropping 20 seconds for a 13:15 in the 3200 to place 7th — a huge early-season PR.
The relay teams continued to impress, with the 4x100 finishing 2nd in a strong showing, while the 4x800 secured 4th place. In the throws, London Boedeker and Laila Crain anchored the field events with solid performances in the discus, javelin, and shot put.
Strong Team Finish
When the final points were tallied, the boys placed 3rd out of 14 teams, while the girls finished 5th out of 15 — an impressive showing considering the heavy weekend workload.
Two varsity meets in two days. Big performances. Personal records. Event wins.
The 2026 outdoor campaign is officially underway — and the Trojans are just getting started.
