JV Trojans Soar To Scottsboro

The Hazel Green JV Squad competed on Tuesday, March 10th at the North Alabama Junior High Gold Circuit in Scottsboro. The boys finished 5th out of 12 teams with 47 points, while the girls delivered a strong showing to place 3rd out of 11 teams with 77 points.


Sprints

The sprint events featured large fields and numerous personal bests across both squads.

In the boys 200 meters, Aiden Crain led the Trojans with an 8th-place finish in 25.40, setting a PR with a 13.5% improvement and scoring team points. Seven of the 16 competing boys recorded personal bests, highlighted by Kendrick Graham’s 29.29.

For the girls, Johnnasia Martin turned in one of the top sprint performances of the meet, placing 3rd in the 200 meters (28.90) with an impressive 28.1% improvement. Additional PRs came from Kalena Snyder (38.61), Janiyah Harris (38.79), and Aubrey Wilson (32.64), while Kieara Dodson added points with a 7th-place finish.

In the boys 100 meters, Micah Kentish placed 8th in 12.36, setting a PR and scoring points. Seven additional boys improved their marks, led by Teagan Brown’s 12.87.

Martin also paced the girls in the 100 meters, finishing 6th in 13.82 for another personal best, with several teammates also posting improvements, including Harris.

The boys 400 meters saw Aden Watkins-Elliot lead the team with a time of 1:02.24, while PRs were recorded by Micah Jones (1:09.03) and Dhairya Bhadiyadra (1:19.05). Kalena Snyder represented the girls in the event with a time of 1:43.86.

The boys 4×100 relay placed 8th in 50.98, scoring a point for the team, while the girls 4×400 relay finished 11th in 5:21.05.

Distance

The distance events produced major points and an individual victory.

Braysen Jean captured the boys 1600-meter title in 4:47.31, leading a strong group that included Troy Wood, who placed 6th to score points, and Michaelray Tate, who recorded a PR with 5:56.33, and Talen Balch, running his first 1600 in 6:23.54.

Jean also led the Trojans in the 800 meters, placing 6th in 2:17.62. Several teammates posted personal bests, including Wood (2:21.59), Rylan Andrews (2:30.42), and Ifesinachi Ukeje (2:53.05). Nate Crabtree (2:54.00) and Dhairya Bhadiyadra (3:02.02) ran their first 800.

For the girls, Emmerson Foreman paced the team in the 1600 meters with a time of 6:06.03, while Danielle Vibbert (6:23.34) and Miranda Bush (6:26.30) both recorded PRs. In the 800 meters, Natalie Moyers ran a personal best 2:54.56, with Vibbert also competing in the event.

Both distance relay squads delivered standout performances, with the boys 4×800 relay placing 2nd in 9:59.23 and the girls 4×800 relay also finishing 2nd in 12:00.03, each earning eight team points.


Hurdles

The hurdle events produced another event champion for the Trojans.

Maci Sedlacek dominated the girls 300-meter hurdles, winning in 51.08 while setting a PR. She also added a 2nd-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles (18.41) to contribute additional points.

On the boys side, Deshawn Riley placed 3rd in the 110-meter hurdles (18.61), recording a personal best.

Throws

The throwing events were a major strength for the JV squad, producing two victories.

Adonis Billingsley won the boys shot put with a throw of 40-9.50, setting a PR. Teammates Mason Kimbrough and Elliot Edge also competed.

For the girls, Addison Wood captured the shot put title (28-8). Piper Seebeck added a 2nd-place finish with a PR, while Deaira Taft and Za’Nyria Ethridge provided depth.


In the girls discus, Seebeck led the team with a 4th-place throw of 64-11, joined by Taft, who placed 5th with a PR, and Wood, who finished 6th to score points.

Jumps

The field events continued to deliver key performances.

Seebeck added another victory in the girls high jump, clearing 4-11 to take first place.

In the boys long jump, Riley placed 5th with a leap of 17-8, setting a PR and scoring points. Additional personal bests came from Brown and Ethan Brandon (14-0.50).

For the girls, Jordyn Robinson led the team in the long jump, joined by Wilson and Rachel Long.


Team Effort

Overall, the Trojans collected 5 event victories and 11 podium finishes, demonstrating strong depth across all event areas. With 55 athletes competing across 98 events, the meet showcased the potential of Hazel Green’s JV program.

By the end of the competition, an impressive 42 personal records had been set — a clear sign that the next generation of Trojan track and field athletes is rapidly improving and building momentum towards the JV championships at the end of the season.
